March 31, 2006

What does Writely do?
Writely allows you to edit documents online with whomever you choose, and then publish and blog them online.

What exactly can I do with it?
You can:

  • Upload Word documents, OpenOffice, RTF, HTML or text (or create documents from scratch).
  • Use our simple WYSIWYG editor to format your documents, spell-check them, etc.
  • Invite others to share your documents (by e-mail address).
  • Edit documents online with whomever you choose.
  • View your documents’ revision history and roll back to any version.
  • Publish documents online to the world, or to just who you choose.
  • Download documents to your desktop as Word, OpenOffice, RTF, PDF*, HTML or zip.
  • Post your documents to your blog.

How much does Writely cost?
During the beta period, Writely is free.

What will it cost in the future?
Our hope is to have the basic service be free, with some extra features requiring a reasonable subscription fee*. We will also be charging license fees to corporations and partners.

Recently google has bought Writely and they are in the process of moving their things to the google servers. So currently the only way to get an account in writely is through invites. I have 14 invites to share so anyone who needs an invite please give your email address in the comment.

I have 5 Windows Live Mail invites so anyone needs an invite can give me their email id. And once again this willbe a first come first serve. So what's special about Windows live mail Beta. Firstly its the updated version of hotmail. Here are the features of Windows Live Mail Beta.

Reading Pane
Get quick previews of your e-mail with the Reading Pane. Cruise from message to message without re-loading a new page each time. See the full content with one click.
The Info Bar
If you just got e-mail from an unrecognized sender. A single click deletes the mail and reports the sender as a junk e-mailer. Wait, it's actually from a friend of yours? No problem, a single click teaches Windows Live Mail beta to always allow e-mail from that address.

Anti-Phishing features
Windows Live Mail beta will warn you when it seems like someone is trying to "phish" for your personal information, and let you zap their e-mail off the face of the earth.

The wonderful world of right clicking
Right click power, activate! Right click on a message to reply, delete, or almost anything else. It works for folders, too.

Drag and drop
Grab it, drag it, drop it in a folder. You are now officially a power user.

Address AutoComplete
Start typing a name and—pow!—up pops a list of possible recipients from your contact list. Click on the one you want and you're done.(after gmail and yahoo finally in hotmail oops i mean windows live mail beta).

Keyboard shortcuts
You think only a slowpoke would use a mouse? Okay—go nuts with these keyboard shortcuts. More to come. (already there in gmail and yahoo)

Rich text editing
Bold or meek, colorful or bland: Make your mail just the way you want. Add a couple Mr. Smiles or Mr. Frowny Faces for good measure.

Storage that grows with you
You want storage? You want enough storage for 1,000 hi-res photos? You got it. 2GB worth.*

Save Sent mails
The hassle of having to remember to cc: yourself every time you wanted to keep an outgoing e-mail is now history. Our new version does it for you.

and any FAQ go here. In case i don't have enough invites for all of you, in that case you can go here and sign-up yourself.

Anybody who needs Windows Live Messenger invites just mention your email ids in the comments. As of now i have 15 invites left with me so it will be first come first serve…
